Fubon Financial Holdings and its subsidiaries have received three awards from The Asset, an international financial media outlet, in recognition of their corporate sustainability efforts. Richard M. Tsai, Chairman of Fubon Financial Holdings, was named “Best Chief Executive Officer.” Taipei Fubon Bank earned the “Best Initiative in Diversity and Inclusion” award, while Fubon Insurance was recognized for the “Best Initiative in Social Responsibility.”
Richard M. Tsai stated: “This honor belongs to all Fubon colleagues.” He emphasized that sustainability is a vital investment for future growth, strengthening resilience and inclusivity while building long-term competitiveness and value for society. Tsai added that Fubon will continue to work with stakeholders to pursue a low-carbon and sustainable future.
Fubon Financial Holdings redefined its sustainability vision in 2021 by focusing on four pillars: decarbonization, digitalization, empowerment, and connection. By the end of 2023, the company increased its quantitative indicators from 21 to 29 and set new medium- to long-term targets through 2030. In green finance alone, over NT$2.5 trillion had been invested by 2024 with a target of NT$2.91 trillion by 2030.
The company has also established a comprehensive operational mechanism for corporate governance through organizational structure, management practices, and performance evaluation. Its Board of Directors created a Corporate Governance and Sustainability Committee chaired by Richard M. Tsai who achieved full attendance in 2024 to ensure effective implementation of social responsibility initiatives.
To foster sustainability among employees, Fubon launched the "Fubon ESG Club" in 2024 with exclusive courses designed to enhance internal communication on sustainability topics across subsidiaries. The company also continues investing in social welfare via affiliated foundations supporting arts, culture, sports, and broader public welfare initiatives.
Taipei Fubon Bank’s inclusive finance initiative targeted Taiwan’s migrant worker population—over 840,000 people—by partnering with education organization One-Forty to assess financial needs through a literacy survey conducted in 2024. The bank developed fraud prevention guidelines and banking service instructions available in four Southeast Asian languages to help migrant workers avoid scams and access services safely.
The bank also produced Indonesian-language financial education videos online and updated its popular tabletop game "Abundant Life" into bilingual versions for intercultural learning between migrant workers and elderly citizens through workshops. Kelly Kuo, Chief Administrative Officer at Taipei Fubon Bank said: “Taipei Fubon Bank will continue to leverage its financial expertise and collaborate across industries to build a safer, more convenient, and inclusive financial environment to fulfill our commitment to social responsibility.”
Fubon Insurance received recognition for shifting insurance from reactive compensation toward proactive risk prevention through ongoing risk education programs targeting both businesses and society at large.
Since 2021 it has published annual children’s picture books addressing various life risks such as home safety or earthquakes; this year’s book was produced with the Federation for the Welfare of Taiwan's Seniors focusing on dementia-friendly issues alongside general home safety awareness.
The insurer maintains industry-academia partnerships offering internships as well as lectures delivered by professionals on campus—helping students develop insurance knowledge relevant for future careers—and regularly hosts seminars featuring experts discussing trends or providing customized training programs aimed at enhancing operational resilience among corporate clients.
