Ambassador Howard Brodie officially presented his credentials to President Alexander Stubb of Finland at the Presidential Palace on November 13, 2025. During the ceremony, Brodie spoke about the close relationship between the United States and Finland.
“I was honored to present my credentials to President Stubb today. I look forward to representing the United States in Finland at a time when our nations’ relations are closer than ever,” Ambassador Brodie stated.
Howard Brodie was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to Finland on October 14, 2025. He brings more than three decades of experience in legal practice, corporate governance, and business leadership. Before his diplomatic appointment by President Trump, he served as Co-President and General Counsel of Brodie Generational Capital Partners, LLC. Previously, he was Vice President and General Counsel for Purolite Corporation where he led its legal department and managed its sale to Ecolab for $3.7 billion. He also spent ten years as Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of EMCORE Corporation’s Board of Directors. His other roles include Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at Empower Energies.
Brodie has advised both public and private company boards on corporate governance issues throughout his career. After earning a J.D. from Yale Law School, he clerked for Judge Gilbert Merritt of the Sixth Circuit before joining White & Case LLP as a commercial law practitioner specializing in finance and mergers.
He has also been involved with academic institutions: serving on the Yale Law School Fund Board and founding The Howard Wexler Brodie ’93 Center for Jewish and Israeli Law. He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New York.
Ambassador Brodie holds a summa cum laude B.A. in political science from Duke University, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, studied abroad at Oxford University’s Brasenose College, and was a visiting scholar at the University of St. Petersburg Law Faculty.
A resident of Villanova, Pennsylvania, and Fisher Island, Florida, Ambassador Brodie is married to Jimena Aparicio Brodie; they have three children: Shainie, Mia, and Solomon.
