The governments of the United States, Cyprus, Greece, and Israel released a joint statement following the 3+1 Energy Ministerial meeting held in Athens. The energy ministers from these countries, along with co-chairs of the U.S. National Energy Dominance Council, gathered to reaffirm their commitment to enhancing energy security and cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
According to the statement, the ministers emphasized the importance of ongoing and future regional interconnectivity projects within the framework of the India Middle East Europe Corridor. They also discussed advancing energy development and strengthening cooperation on protecting energy infrastructure.
The participants agreed to use the 3+1 format as a platform for diversifying regional energy supplies by reducing dependence on hostile actors and improving connections among regional partners with shared interests. The statement included a condemnation of Russian efforts to bypass oil sanctions and fund its military actions in Ukraine.
Additionally, the ministers reiterated their support for cooperation between Europe and Israel on energy infrastructure. Plans were announced for another meeting in Washington, D.C., scheduled for the second quarter of 2026, aimed at further developing energy collaboration under the Eastern Mediterranean 3+1 Energy Dialogue framework.

They condemned Russian attempts to circumvent oil sanctions and finance its continuing war on Ukraine. The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to Europe-Israel energy infrastructure cooperation. The ministers aim to convene in Washington, D.C., in the second quarter of 2026 to further build out energy cooperation between their countries under the framework of the Eastern Mediterranean 3+1 Energy Dialogue."
