A bus electrical fire led to the closure of the Andre Rebouças Tunnel in Rio de Janeiro on November 6, 2025, disrupting traffic in the area. The tunnel, which connects Lagoa to Rio Comprido and provides access to Galeao International Airport, was closed in the direction of Lagoa.

Brazilian authorities have recommended that commuters use alternative routes such as the Santa Barbara Tunnel or Aterro do Flamengo while the situation is addressed. U.S. government personnel were advised to plan their travel accordingly.

The U.S. Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro remains open and is operating during regular business hours. In a statement, officials outlined several steps for safety: "Avoid the affected area. Be aware of traffic disruptions. Plan alternate routes. Minimize unnecessary movements. Monitor local media for updates."
