Macquarie Group, in partnership with MIT Solve, has launched the Macquarie Community Resilience Prize to support climate resilience initiatives in Brazil. The program will award up to $500,000 to as many as five projects that are either based in or operating within Brazil and focus on addressing the impacts of climate change while creating employment and skill-building opportunities.

The prize targets technology-enabled solutions across sectors such as energy and grid resilience, water management, agriculture, food systems, infrastructure protection, disaster preparedness, and other fields that enhance community resilience. Applications will be judged on criteria including climate resilience impact, workforce training and employment creation, innovation, and overall potential for positive outcomes.

Online applications open on November 25, 2025 via MIT Solve’s website and close on February 25, 2026. Winners will receive not only funding but also access to a support program with workshops, coaching sessions, in-kind resources, and mentorship from Macquarie employees. The winners are set to be announced in May 2026.

Miki Edelman, Head of Americas at Macquarie Group said: “Macquarie has been active in Brazil for over 25 years, working alongside local partners to drive innovation and sustainable growth. Adaptation and resilience solutions are not just for managing risk – they’re operational priorities and growth opportunities that can help to future proof infrastructure, agriculture, industry and communities. Through initiatives like the Macquarie Community Resilience Prize, we are proud to be catalysing solutions that are working to solve climate-related issues, create employment and build vital skills across Brazil. Together, we can deliver lasting impact and ensure a stronger, more resilient future for all."

Hala Hanna, Executive Director of MIT Solve added: "MIT Solve's mission is to identify the world's most promising entrepreneurs tackling critical challenges and help them scale. The Macquarie Community Resilience Prize exemplifies the power of strategic partnership in addressing those challenges, unlocking climate resilience solutions across Brazil. Together we're investing in both the innovations and the people who will build more resilient communities for generations to come."

This announcement comes ahead of the United Nations’ 30th Conference of Parties (COP) climate conference scheduled for November 10–21 in Belém, Brazil.
