Mission South Africa has started issuing the U.S. Department of State Report of Death of a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Non-Citizen National Abroad (form DS-2060) electronically as of November 3, 2025. The new electronic version, known as ECRODA, includes the digital signature of the consular officer who signs the form, along with a time and date stamp on all copies. It also features the typed name and title of the consular officer and the seal of the Mission South Africa Consulate that processes the document, which could be in Johannesburg, Cape Town, or Durban.
