The U.S. Embassy in Port Moresby has announced it will conduct a consular outreach visit to Morobe Province on November 5, 2025. Services for U.S. citizens will be available at the Lae International Hotel, Pool Side Meeting Hall 3, starting at 8:00 a.m., followed by a town hall at 9:00 a.m.
Consular staff will provide assistance with applications for U.S. passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA). Notarial services will not be available during this visit.
U.S. citizens who wish to schedule an appointment are instructed to email ConsularPortMoresby@state.gov using the subject line “E77 – ACS – REMOTE APPOINTMENT – MOROBE – FULL NAME.” The email should include the applicant’s name, date of birth, current or expired passport number if applicable, type of service requested, and a description of their situation. Applicants are also asked to attach relevant documents with clear file names.
All fees for passports and CRBAs must be paid online before the appointment, and applicants must bring proof of payment when submitting their application. Instructions on fee payments and eligibility for online processing are provided based on whether applicants use Form DS-82 or DS-11.
For those renewing adult passports using Form DS-82, specific requirements must be met such as being able to submit the most recent passport book and confirming that it was issued less than 15 years ago with a ten-year validity period. Other applicants using Form DS-11—such as first-time applicants or those whose previous passport was lost or damaged—must meet different criteria.
Applicants are responsible for arranging how approved citizenship documents will be returned after processing at the embassy in Port Moresby. Options include in-person pickup or use of an international courier service like DHL; a pre-paid waybill can be submitted with the application if using courier services.
Fees vary depending on the service: renewal of an adult U.S. passport costs $130 USD; first-time adult passports cost $165 USD; renewal of minor passports is $135 USD; and combined CRBA and first passport services total $235 USD.
