Kenneth A. Howery, the newly confirmed U.S. Ambassador-designate to the Kingdom of Denmark, has arrived in Copenhagen. His arrival marks the beginning of his tenure following confirmation by the U.S. Senate on October 7, 2025.
Howery previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to Sweden from 2019 to 2021. Upon his arrival, he expressed enthusiasm for his new role and highlighted the importance of bilateral relations between the United States and Denmark.
“I am thrilled to have arrived in Denmark, and I look forward to getting to know the people and the cultures of the Kingdom,” said Ambassador-designate Howery. “From Skagen to Copenhagen, to Greenland and the Faroe Islands, there is so much I am excited to see and learn. The relationship between the United States and the Kingdom of Denmark is special and built on an enduring alliance, forged through generations of shared sacrifice and exceptionally close people-to-people ties. I am honored to represent the United States, particularly as we celebrate 225 years of U.S.-Danish relations and the 250th birthday of America in the coming year.”
According to statements from the embassy, Howery plans to focus on strengthening defense cooperation with Denmark by improving NATO readiness and interoperability. He also aims to promote a secure and prosperous Arctic region while using his private sector experience to boost trade and investment between both countries.
Ambassador-designate Howery will formally assume his duties after presenting his credentials to His Majesty The King.
