Heavy rainfall caused by Tropical Depression Fengshen continues to affect central Vietnam, leading to ongoing flooding in Hue and nearby areas. The U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Vietnam have issued a warning to U.S. citizens, advising them to remain cautious and follow the guidance of local authorities.
The Vietnamese National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has stated that heavy to very heavy rain is expected through late Wednesday, October 29. Areas from southern Quang Tri to Da Nang—including regions north and south of Hue—as well as eastern Quang Ngai are likely to be impacted. As a result, residents should be prepared for continued flooding, flash floods, and landslides.
U.S. consular officials in Ho Chi Minh City have communicated with local authorities who are currently assisting both residents and visitors affected by the floods. Emergency contact information for police stations and local government offices in Hue, Da Nang, and Hoi An has been provided for those needing immediate help.
The Embassy recommends several safety measures: "Follow directions of local officials. Do not walk or drive across flooded areas. Monitor local media and weather forecasts. Be aware that forecast storm paths can change." They also advise monitoring updates from the U.S. Joint Typhoon Warning Center and the Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting for the latest storm tracking information.
