Joseph Popolo has officially assumed his role as U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, presenting his credentials to King Willem-Alexander at Paleis Noordeinde on October 29.

As the representative of the President in the Netherlands, Popolo is expected to focus on enhancing cooperation between the United States and the Netherlands in areas such as defense, security, law enforcement, trade, and technology. The U.S. Embassy states that his arrival underscores America’s ongoing commitment to its partnership with one of its oldest allies.

Popolo commented on his appointment: “I am incredibly honored to have been selected by President Trump to serve the United States as our new Ambassador to the Kingdom of Netherlands, one of our most important and enduring allies. Working with Secretary Rubio, we will strengthen the vital partnership between our two countries, building our past success into future results.”

Before becoming ambassador, Popolo founded Charles & Potomac Capital, LLC, a private investment firm focusing on sectors including technology and healthcare. He previously led Freeman Company’s expansion into a global live event brand experience business and oversaw significant mergers and acquisitions activity.

His board service includes roles at Ondas Holdings ($ONDS), Encore, JEGI CLARITY, Advisory Research, Boston College’s Board of Trustees, and SMU’s Cox School of Business Executive Board.

Popolo holds degrees from Boston College and an MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He resides in the Netherlands with his wife and three children.
