The U.S. Embassy in Paris has announced that it will hold a consular outreach event in Lyon on November 20 and 21, 2025. The event is intended to assist U.S. citizens with applying for passports or Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA).
Individuals interested in participating are encouraged to review the relevant instructions and requirements, and to schedule an appointment online. Separate appointments must be made for each person.
The embassy provides specific guidance for various situations:
- Parents wishing to apply for their child’s first U.S. passport or CRBA should follow the provided instructions and book an appointment.
- For children under 16 who have a five-year passport, there are detailed steps on documentation and scheduling.
- Those over 16 with a five-year passport or whose ten-year passport was issued more than fifteen years ago can also find the necessary information online. The embassy notes that applicants aged 16 and 17 should pay attention to special instructions.
- Individuals whose passports have been lost or stolen are directed to consult the outlined process for replacement.
- Passport renewals for those with a ten-year passport should be submitted by mail according to embassy guidelines.
"Please make one appointment per person," the announcement states.
This outreach is part of the embassy’s routine services aimed at making consular support more accessible outside Paris.
