The Fubon Senior Open, recognized as Taiwan's longest-running international senior golf tournament, will return from October 29 to 31 at the Taiwan Golf & Country Club (TGCC). Organizers have increased the total prize purse to NT$6.8 million for 2025, up from NT$6 million in 2024. Of this amount, NT$6 million is allocated for regular seniors and NT$800,000 for super seniors.
Senior golfers from 13 countries—including Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Korea, Fiji, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, the USA, China, the UK, India and Australia—are set to compete in this year’s event. The competition will feature all top 30 players from the Taiwan Senior Professional Golf Association’s (TSPGA) 2024 order of merit.
A Youth Heritage Camp will be held on October 27 as part of efforts to promote golf heritage and youth development. Tournament co-founder Tony Hsieh will lead a group of veteran golfers to mentor young amateurs. Notable participants in the camp include Tony Hsieh himself; Thammanoon Sriroj of Thailand—the defending champion; local veterans Lu Wen-Teh and Lu Chien-soon; and C.T. Pan, bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics.
Fubon Group chairman Daniel M. Tsai expressed gratitude toward those who have supported the tournament over its history: "I am grateful for the devotion and persistence of many people who have helped bring about the Fubon Senior Open over the years." He also highlighted Tony Hsieh’s contributions: "Tsai is particularly thankful for Tony Hsieh because the Fubon Senior Open would not be possible without his long-standing efforts to promote golf and carry the baton in Taiwan."
Tony Hsieh emphasized youth training as essential for developing golf in Taiwan: "The training and nurturing of junior golfers is instrumental in building a robust foundation for golf development in Taiwan." He added: "Chicks may struggle to grow and become full-fledged without the mentorship of old roosters."
This year’s field includes several notable players such as Lu Chien-soon (2024 money list leader), Lin chi-hsiang, multiple-time winner Lu Wen-teh (1963), T.C. Chen and Hsu Mong-nan. International competitors include defending champion Thammanoon Sriroj—who recently won both on Japan’s senior tour and at home—and Prayad Marksaeng from Thailand; Takashi Kanemoto from Japan; and Kim Jong-duck from Korea.
The event schedule starts with a pro-am tournament on October 28 before moving into three rounds for regular seniors and two rounds for super seniors. The top 60 regular senior players after two rounds will proceed to a final round; there is no cut for super seniors aged 65 or older.
Admission is free for spectators wishing to attend at TGCC. Live coverage will be available via Fubon's official YouTube channel at https://pse.is/6kkeze , while updates can also be found on TSPGA's Facebook page at https://pse.is/6kkg9z .
