AXIS Capital Holdings Limited has announced the appointment of Erik Rasmussen as Head of US Healthcare Reinsurance. Rasmussen will report directly to James “Jay” Hamilton, Global Head of Accident & Health, Insurance and Reinsurance.
In his new role, Rasmussen will lead the US Healthcare Reinsurance team at AXIS, develop strategic underwriting plans, and work on strengthening relationships with current partners while establishing new ones in support of the company’s business goals.
Rasmussen brings more than 30 years of experience in the US healthcare sector. Before joining AXIS, he spent over ten years at Voya in various senior underwriting positions including SVP Workplace Solutions UW & Pricing; SVP Health Solutions Underwriting; and Head of Employee Benefits Underwriting, Group Reinsurance Transition Business and Affinity Markets. He has also held roles in underwriting, operations, and marketing at Allianz and ING.

Rasmussen will be based in St. Paul, Minnesota.
