ANZ has announced the appointment of three new members to its Group Executive Committee. The new executives, who will report to Chief Executive Officer Nuno Matos, are Pedro Rodeia as Group Executive Australia Retail, Christine Palmer as Group Chief Risk Officer, and Donald Patra as Group Chief Information Officer.
Nuno Matos commented on the appointments: “I am very pleased to appoint three world-class executives to these critical roles.
“The deep experience they each bring will ensure ANZ will deliver better outcomes for our customers, further strengthen our risk management capabilities and continue to build best-in-class technology capabilities for our customers and our people.
“I look forward to welcoming them to Melbourne as each of these three experienced leaders commence the crucial role they will play in driving our future growth and performance,” Mr Matos concluded.
Pedro Rodeia joins from McKinsey & Co., where he was a Senior Partner and previously co-led the Global Banking Practice. He has worked with global banks for over 30 years, including 15 years with Australian banks. Rodeia is known for his focus on retail banking and has experience in more than 20 markets working on customer engagement, retention, reducing complexity, and launching segmented propositions. He will start at ANZ on 17 November 2025 in Melbourne. Bruce Rush will remain Acting Group Executive Australia Retail until then.
Christine Palmer comes from Santander UK, where she served as Chief Risk Officer since 2020. She previously held senior roles at Aldermore Group, ING, Ernst & Young, and spent 14 years at Royal Bank of Scotland/NatWest focusing on enterprise risk management and credit risk. Palmer is set to join ANZ on 1 December 2025 in Melbourne. Kevin Corbally will continue as Group Chief Risk Officer until her arrival.
Donald Patra brings more than three decades of leadership experience in financial services and technology. He most recently served as HSBC’s Chief Information Officer for the United Kingdom and Europe. Over his two decades at HSBC, Patra held CIO positions across Asia, the Americas, and Europe, leading major transformation projects focused on digital transformation, modernizing banking platforms, advancing data and AI capabilities, and improving operational resilience. He will join ANZ on 24 November 2025 in Melbourne. Michael Bullock remains Acting Group Executive Technology & Group Services until Patra assumes his role.
