The U.S. Embassy has announced that consular personnel will visit Freeport from October 22 to October 24, 2025, to provide routine U.S. passport and citizenship services.

Passport services will be available at the Pelican Bay Hotel Conference Room on Wednesday, October 22, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, as well as on Friday, October 24, from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Appointments for these services can be scheduled online by selecting Bahamas and then Nassau Outreach for the Freeport location. The embassy provides detailed instructions about required documents and procedures at its official website (https://bs.usembassy.gov/passports/).

Applicants are reminded to bring both original documents and photocopies for each person applying. No copying services will be available at the appointment site; incomplete documentation may result in applications not being processed.

A new requirement is that all passport applications must now be completed online and printed with a barcode strip; handwritten forms are no longer accepted.

The embassy states that it “strives to provide efficient services to support your travel needs and implements a tiered processing schedule.” Priority will be given to applicants whose passports have expired or will expire within two months of their appointment date. Those with passports valid for more than two months will still receive their new passport before expiration; current passports will be returned after the interview for continued use until the new one arrives.

For adult passport renewals using form DS-82, appointments are not necessary. Applicants should drop off their application materials during service hours. Payment via pay.gov is encouraged for these renewals (https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/1156527186/), with receipts required upon submission.

Child passport renewals (under age 16) require an appointment and several supporting documents including birth certificates, identification of parents, photographs taken within six months, age progression photos if applicable, and payment proof. If a parent cannot attend in person, additional documentation is needed according to embassy guidelines.

Renewal processes differ slightly based on applicant age groups—ages 16–17 or over 18—and first-time applicants must follow specific guidance found at https://bs.usembassy.gov/. All payments can generally be made online through pay.gov or by bank draft payable to U.S. Embassy Nassau.

For children born abroad who need a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) along with a first-time passport application, families should upload documents online ahead of time (https://bs.usembassy.gov/consular-report-of-birth-abroad/) and bring originals plus copies to the appointment.

A Social Security number is mandatory for all passport applications. Applicants unsure of their number are directed to contact the Federal Benefits Unit in Santo Domingo before their appointment for assistance (https://do.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/social-security/).

Fees vary depending on service type:

- Adult renewal: $130

- Adult Passport Card: $30

- First-time adult (age 16+): $165

- Child under age 16 renewal or first-time: $135

- Child Passport Card: $15

- Consular Report of Birth Abroad: $100

Completed passports will be returned via courier such as GWS or DHL; applicants must provide prepaid airway bills or account numbers when submitting applications.
