Natalie A. Baker Chargé d’Affaires | U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan

The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and the U.S. Consulates General in Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar are observing planned protests across Pakistan from October 3 to October 7, 2025. Officials expect large crowds, increased traffic congestion, a heightened security presence, more checkpoints, and potential disruptions to mobile and internet networks in affected areas.

These demonstrations may result in road closures or blockages near protest sites, causing delays and detours for travelers. The duration of these gatherings is uncertain and they could extend late into the evening.

The embassy advises U.S. citizens to avoid large public gatherings and remain alert to their surroundings. “Protests can be fluid in nature and even peaceful ones can turn violent.” Citizens are also urged to exercise caution if they find themselves near a demonstration unexpectedly, review personal security plans, monitor local media for updates, keep a low profile, carry identification at all times, and cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
