A demonstration is planned to take place near the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. The event is connected to the Global Resilience Flotilla headed to Gaza.

The U.S. Embassy announced that starting from 12:00 p.m. on October 3, its front entrance will be closed to all pedestrian traffic until the demonstrations conclude. Staffing at the embassy will also be reduced during the afternoon.

“There is no indication at this time that these demonstrations will turn violent, but as with any large gathering, tensions can escalate unexpectedly and with little warning. U.S. citizens should exercise caution and avoid protest areas. Please remember that it is illegal for non-Malaysians to participate in demonstrations in Malaysia,” according to the statement from the U.S. Embassy.

U.S. citizens are advised to monitor local media for updates and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security alerts and updates directly from the embassy through its official website https://my.usembassy.gov/.

Those requiring immediate assistance can contact the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur by phone or email (KLACS@state.gov), or reach out to State Department Consular Affairs for support.

The embassy’s guidance includes avoiding demonstrations and crowds, monitoring local news sources, and remaining aware of one’s surroundings.
