A large protest is expected to take place in Mexico City on October 2, organized by student groups led by Comite 68. The demonstration will begin at Tlatelolco near the Monumento a la Revolucion and proceed to the Zocalo. The event marks the 57th anniversary of the Tlatelolco student massacre of 1968.

Authorities estimate that about 8,000 people will participate in the protest, and police expect incidents of vandalism. Embassy staff have been instructed to avoid these areas.

The U.S. Embassy has issued guidance for those in Mexico City: "Demonstrations can be unpredictable; avoid areas around protests and demonstrations. Monitor local media for updates. Follow the directions of local authorities and in case of emergency, call 911."
