On the evening of October 1, two pro-Palestine demonstrations took place in Mexico City. One group, estimated at 600 participants, was moving toward the Angel de la Independencia on Paseo de la Reforma near the U.S. Embassy. According to the alert, some demonstrators identified as anarchists have a history of using violence and vandalizing property. It remains uncertain if additional protests will occur.

The U.S. Embassy has advised American citizens to avoid the area due to the unpredictable nature of demonstrations. "Demonstrations can be unpredictable; avoid areas around protests and demonstrations. Monitor local media for updates. Follow the directions of local authorities and in case of emergency, call 911," reads guidance from the embassy.

For assistance, Americans in Mexico can contact the embassy by phone or through an online contact form. The Department of State also provides support through Consular Affairs and offers travel information resources such as the Mexico International Travel information, a WhatsApp channel for U.S. citizens in Mexico, details about U.S. Passports, and information about enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). Updates are also available on social media platforms like Facebook and X for both the Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Mexico.
