A demonstration is planned for Thursday, October 2, at Namestie Slobody (Freedom Square) in Bratislava, Slovakia. The event will start at 4:00 PM and is expected to conclude at Hviezdoslavovo Square by 7:00 PM. Local authorities anticipate possible traffic disruptions and an increased police presence in the area and surrounding streets. There is also a possibility of counterprotests occurring.

The U.S. Embassy in Slovakia has advised American citizens to avoid demonstrations if possible and remain alert to their surroundings. "Avoid demonstrations, if possible; Be cautious of your surroundings and practice situational awareness at all times; Monitor local media for updates; Stay aware of spontaneous counter-protests; If altercations or violence occurs, remove yourself and any family/group members from the area immediately to a safe location (police officer, known public area, etc.); Set a predetermined time and location to meet with friends and family should you become separated," according to guidance provided by the embassy.

The embassy recommends monitoring local news sources for real-time updates on the situation.

For assistance, U.S. citizens are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), which helps them receive security messages and makes it easier for officials to locate them during emergencies. In case of emergency, Americans can contact the U.S. Embassy in Slovakia at +421-2-5922-3000 or reach Consular Affairs in Washington, D.C., at 1-888-407-4747 from within the United States and Canada or 1-202-501-4444 from other countries between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on weekdays except federal holidays.
