Nearly 4,000 Ghanaian students attended the annual EducationUSA College Fair organized by the U.S. Embassy in Ghana on September 27, 2025, in Accra. The event took place at the Labadi Beach Hotel and brought together representatives from more than 30 universities and colleges across the United States. These representatives provided information to students, parents, and educators about undergraduate and graduate programs, scholarships, and application procedures.

Rolf Olson, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Ghana, addressed attendees at the opening of the fair. He said: “I am deeply proud of this connection and look forward to seeing these numbers grow, further strengthening the bonds between Ghana and the United States.”

The fair also offered an opportunity for representatives from U.S. higher education institutions to discuss possible academic partnerships with local Ghanaian institutions. Such collaborations are intended to enhance educational links and create new opportunities for both countries.

Fred Asa Kisiedu, Deputy Director in charge of Tertiary Education at Ghana’s Ministry of Education, highlighted the importance of events like this for national development. He encouraged students to “return with skills and knowledge that will contribute to the development of Ghana and Africa as a whole.”

EducationUSA is a free resource provided by the U.S. government that offers guidance on applying to American colleges and universities. It operates two advising centers in Ghana—one in Accra-Osu and another at ACE Consult in Asokwa-Kumasi—where advisors assist students both individually and in groups through various formats.

A full list of participating universities can be found on the event’s official website.
