Political opposition parties in Mogadishu have announced plans for demonstrations on Saturday, September 27, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., in response to recent reports of land evictions. The U.S. Embassy has issued a security alert for American citizens in the city, highlighting areas such as Sinai Junction in Wardhigley District, Trebuunka in Hodan District, and the entrance to Dayniile District as potential locations for gatherings.

These planned protests come after violent clashes on September 24 that resulted in fatalities. The embassy noted that "protests that seem peaceful can quickly escalate into violence."

U.S. citizens are advised to avoid all demonstrations as a precautionary measure. Other recommendations include monitoring local media for updates on road conditions before traveling, avoiding crowds, keeping vehicle doors locked and windows rolled up, informing friends and family of one’s safety status, reviewing personal security plans, and carrying a copy of their U.S. passport.
