SLGI Asset Management Inc., operating as Sun Life Global Investments, has introduced its first exchange-traded fund (ETF) series for three of its active fixed income funds. This move marks the company's entry into the Canadian ETF market, which currently holds $612.6 billion in assets.

The new ETF Series provides investors and advisors with access to portfolio management from sub-advisors MFS Investment Management, SLC Management, and Crescent Capital Group through an ETF structure. The initial offering of ETF Series units for each fund has closed, and trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) begins today.

The three funds launching ETF Series are:

- Sun Life Core Advantage Credit Private Pool (TSX: SLCA), which aims to provide income while preserving capital by investing in debt securities or mutual funds that hold such securities.

- Sun Life MFS Global Core Plus Bond Fund (TSX: SLGC), which seeks total return by investing in both investment grade and non-investment grade debt securities globally.

- Sun Life Crescent Specialty Credit Private Pool (TSX: SLSC), focused on providing income and capital preservation primarily through non-investment grade high yield debt securities.

According to Sun Life Global Investments, this development is intended to offer retail investors institutional-quality private credit options and access to narrowly syndicated credit. The company states that advisors can now use the expertise of key sub-advisors across public and private markets via their preferred investment structure.

Oricia Smith, President of SLGI Asset Management Inc. and Senior Vice-President, Investment Solutions at Sun Life Canada, said: "The launch of our ETF Series marks a new chapter in delivering innovative, flexible solutions to Canadians. As Sun Life Global Investments celebrates 15 years of growth, this milestone reflects our continued commitment to helping advisors and their clients build holistic wealth solutions. Enabling Canadians to feel confident in their long-term financial security is why we're seen as a true, trusted partner in the industry."

Sun Life Global Investments was established 15 years ago as a product manufacturer and solutions provider that combines Sun Life's resources with multi-asset capabilities. Over time it has become one of Canada's largest asset managers for defined contribution pensions and expanded its offerings through partnerships with sub-advisors like MFS Investment Management and SLC Management.

Sun Life Global Investments manages $40.95 billion as of December 31, 2024. Its product suite includes mutual funds, segregated funds, annuities, guaranteed investment certificates (GICs), payout annuities, and now ETFs.

Sun Life Financial Inc., the parent company of SLGI Asset Management Inc., operates internationally across several countries including Canada, the United States, various Asian markets, Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Bermuda among others.
