Last week, Chargé Zadrozny hosted a reception to recognize more than 28 Liberians who recently returned from U.S. exchange programs. These included the Mandela Washington Fellowship, International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI), and Pan African Youth Leadership Program (PAYLP). The event also brought together participants from the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) and members of the State Department Exchange Alumni Local (SEAL) network.
The gathering aimed to honor the achievements of these alumni and highlight ongoing cooperation between the United States and Liberia. According to organizers, U.S. exchange programs are designed to build strong connections between people, encourage innovation, and increase opportunities in both countries. They also promote collaboration among leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to help shift relationships from aid-based models toward trade and investment partnerships.
Organizers noted that many alumni are already using their skills and networks gained in the United States to support community development and economic growth in Liberia.
