Samsung Medison is presenting its latest ultrasound diagnostic solutions for women's health at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG 2025) in Cancún, Mexico. The company is focusing on a comprehensive approach to women’s health across all life stages, from adolescence through menopause.

At the event, Samsung Medison will unveil the upgraded HERA Z20 system. This equipment is designed to help healthcare professionals manage a wide range of women’s health issues with one device. It covers conditions from adolescent gynecological concerns and fertility to maternity care and aging.

The new PelvicAssist feature has been added to provide automatic analysis of multiple pelvic regions and measurement of the levator hiatus area using 3D imaging. This aims to assist both patients and healthcare providers who face challenges with complex gynecological conditions.

To address the time-consuming process of assessing lesion characteristics due to anatomical complexity, Samsung Medison has introduced tailored diagnostic reporting solutions based on standardized clinical guidelines. For example, Fibroid 2D streamlines reporting for uterine fibroids by following The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) guideline. Other features like IDEA and IETA are intended to improve workflow efficiency by supporting scan procedures and reporting for endometriosis and endometrial tumor evaluation according to their respective guidelines.

The company also introduced the Mini ER7 probe, which has a head that is 63% smaller than conventional probes. This design aims to reduce discomfort during gynecological exams, particularly for adolescent and elderly patients.

With an increase in maternal age leading to more high-risk pregnancies, Samsung Medison has integrated an Ophthalmic Artery feature into its systems. This allows early detection of systemic vasoconstriction—a key factor in pre-eclampsia—by indirectly monitoring cerebral blood flow through the artery branching from the internal carotid artery. The expanded HeartAssist feature supports real-time monitoring of cardiovascular conditions during pregnancy.

Samsung Medison has also focused on improving work efficiency for healthcare professionals. Live ViewAssist can automatically extract up to 39 ultrasound cross-sectional images with automated annotations and measurements throughout pregnancy, aiming to reduce diagnostic time. The QualityCheck feature evaluates image quality during fetal diagnosis automatically, supporting consistent diagnostic accuracy.

Jihyun Kim, Head of the CX group at Samsung Medison said: “The Upgraded HERA 20 is more than just an equipment enhancement but it’s a total solution designed to support women’s health across all life stages. By combining AI technology with the healthcare professional’s clinical experience, we aim to enhance diagnostic accuracy and reduce burdens, ultimately driving meaningful change in the healthcare field.”
