Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau is set to visit Seoul, Port Moresby, and Majuro from September 12 to 18, 2025. The trip aims to highlight the United States’ commitment to building stronger partnerships and alliances in the Indo-Pacific region.
This marks Deputy Secretary Landau’s first official visit to both the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Pacific Islands in his current role. While in Seoul, he will meet with ROK Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and local business leaders. His itinerary then takes him to Port Moresby, where he will attend events commemorating Papua New Guinea’s 50th anniversary of independence and participate in a U.S.-Pacific Islands Forum Roundtable with Pacific Island leaders. The final stop on his trip is Majuro in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, where he will work on reinforcing ties with this key Compact of Free Association partner.
According to the U.S. Department of State, “This visit demonstrates the United States’ ongoing efforts to deepen partnerships and advance shared priorities across the region.”
The focus during these meetings will be on fostering collaboration, enhancing security, and strengthening economic relationships.
