The United States has provided disaster relief assistance to Pakistan following severe flooding that has disrupted communities across the country. According to a statement from the U.S. Department of State, food, shelter, and other emergency supplies are being delivered to those affected.

In addition to humanitarian aid, the U.S. military transported essential supplies for the Pakistan Army. These materials arrived at Nur Khan Air Base.

Natalie A. Baker, Chargé d’Affaires for the U.S. Mission to Pakistan, was present as C-17 and C-130 aircrafts brought in equipment and supplies. She expressed condolences on behalf of the United States: “In response to a request from the Government of Pakistan, the Department of State and the U.S. military approved foreign assistance funding and critical supplies and equipment to augment national response efforts in the most affected areas,” Baker said.

Baker also stated that the United States is saddened by loss of life and damage caused by flooding.
