Nicaraguans in their homeland and those forced into exile deserve the restoration of democracy in their beloved nation. The United States will continue to support your demands for a free, fair, and democratic Nicaragua so that you might again live without fear of persecution or reprisal," said Secretary Rubio.
The statement comes amid ongoing calls from international actors for increased democratic freedoms and respect for human rights in Nicaragua.
