Demonstrations concerning pension law reforms took place in central Lima and other cities across Peru on September 13, 2025. The protests are expected to continue in the coming days, with possible gatherings at locations such as Plaza San Martin, Av. Abancay, and routes near the Peruvian Congress. Other areas of Lima and various regions throughout Peru may also see additional demonstrations.

U.S. citizens have been advised by the U.S. Embassy in Lima to avoid areas where demonstrations frequently occur, including Plaza Dos de Mayo, Plaza San Martin, Paseo de los Heroes Navales, routes toward the Congress of the Republic, city squares, government buildings, and similar locations. The embassy has warned that those traveling through central Lima should expect heavy traffic and increased security presence.

The advisory includes several recommendations for U.S. citizens: "Avoid the crowds and demonstrations. Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests. Do not interfere with or attempt to circumvent roadblocks. Follow instructions from the Peruvian National Police, Peruvian Armed Forces, and local authorities. Monitor local media for updates."
