Siemens has partnered with yacht manufacturer Bluegame to supply technology for the new BGF45 yacht model. The collaboration centers on Siemens’ SENTRON ECPD (Electronic Circuit Protection Device), a semiconductor-based system that forms the core of the vessel’s electrification setup.

The SENTRON ECPD is installed in the yacht’s electrical panels and manages energy flows using integrated monitoring functions. According to Siemens, this approach supports overall efficiency while ensuring safety and reliability through its advanced electronic design. The device is designed to respond quickly in case of faults, which helps reduce maintenance costs and maintain operational continuity.

Siemens notes that the SENTRON ECPD can adapt to different vessel requirements by adjusting configurations based on various electrical loads and customization needs. Andreas Matthé, CEO Electrical Products at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, stated: “With our groundbreaking SENTRON ECPD we provide industry-leading technology to contribute to the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and sustainability, even on the world´s oceans.”

Bluegame has emphasized sustainability as part of its operations, aligning with the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The SENTRON ECPD fits into this strategy as one of the first Siemens products to receive the Siemens EcoTech label, which aims to set new transparency standards in environmentally conscious product development. The device consolidates multiple conventional components into a single unit, reducing space requirements in electrical distribution boards by about 85 percent. Depending on use case, it can also cut electronics usage by up to 80 percent and reduce metals and plastics consumption by up to 90 percent.
