Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau is set to visit Seoul, Port Moresby, and Majuro from September 12-18, 2025. The trip aims to reinforce the United States’ commitment to strengthening its partnerships and alliances in the Indo-Pacific region.
This marks Deputy Secretary Landau’s first official visit to both the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Pacific Islands since assuming his role. In Seoul, he plans to meet with ROK Foreign Minister Cho Hyun as well as business leaders. Following his engagements in South Korea, Landau will travel to Port Moresby where he will participate in events commemorating Papua New Guinea’s 50th anniversary of independence and attend the U.S.-Pacific Islands Forum Roundtable with Pacific Island leaders. His itinerary concludes with a stop in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, where he intends to strengthen ties with this Compact of Free Association partner.
According to the State Department, “Deputy Secretary Landau will focus on fostering collaboration, enhancing security, and deepening economic ties, reflecting the United States’ dedication to a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.”
The visit highlights ongoing U.S. efforts aimed at advancing shared priorities across the region.
