On September 11, the U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain marked the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with a wreath-laying ceremony. Chargé d’Affaires Charlie J. Franta III and Trinidad and Tobago Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Sean Sobers participated in the event at the embassy’s memorial.

The ceremony honored more than 3,000 people who died in the attacks, including over a dozen nationals from Trinidad and Tobago. Embassy staff observed a moment of silence to remember those lost.

Chargé d’Affaires Franta stated, “Today, as we lay this wreath, we pause to honor the memory of the lives lost in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. We pay tribute to the first responders—firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and everyday citizens—who acted with extraordinary courage, running toward danger to save others. And we remember the families who, more than two decades later, continue to live with the absence of their loved ones.”
