DTEK, a Ukrainian energy company, and the American firm Fluence have completed a battery energy storage systems (BESS) project aimed at providing reliable power to homes in Ukraine. The initiative highlights collaboration between the American private sector and Ukraine’s recovery efforts.

At a ceremony marking the project's completion, Ambassador Davis emphasized the significance of introducing advanced American technology to Ukraine’s energy grid. “What is so wonderful is that this project brings cutting-edge American technology to Ukraine to strengthen the energy grid. It is this partnership that excludes technologies or parts or components that come from those who have not supported Ukraine during all of these years. We all know that there are so many front lines in this war and one of them runs directly through Ukraine’s power plants, substations, and energy infrastructure,” said Davis.

Ambassador Davis also acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by Ukraine's energy sector due to repeated attacks on its infrastructure. “And despite the constant attacks on the energy system, Ukraine has responded every time, every day, every hour with remarkable determination, ingenuity, and resilience. And from what we see, DTEK is just at the forefront of that resilience and ensuring that Ukrainians have the power they need to get up and keep moving forward. It is absolutely inescapable that, night after night, Ukrainians get up and get to the important work of forwarding the light and pushing out the darkness,” she stated.

She further noted America’s view on Ukraine’s recovery as an opportunity for private sector-led growth through strategic investment: “And it is remarkable to all of us to witness this. America views Ukraine’s recovery as an opportunity to unlock private sector-led growth through strategic investment. It is the private capital that is driving innovation, it is creating jobs, and it is delivering real, measurable impact.”

Ambassador Davis highlighted U.S. policy under President Trump supporting economic freedom and commercial partnerships: “And under President Trump’s leadership, we have prioritized that approach, which is grounded in economic freedom, commercial partnerships, and private enterprise. And so DTEK and Fluence’s partnership is an example of President Trump’s vision of Ukraine’s recovery that is Ukrainian-led and private sector-driven. It is also an excellent example of how innovative and trusted American technologies are strengthening Ukraine’s resilience and preparing for a stronger and more secure future.”

She congratulated both companies for completing their work ahead of schedule: “So I want to say congratulations to the DTEK team, congratulations to the Fluence team. That timeline that I heard, a two-year timeline that was reduced to six months, it all sends a powerful message. The partnership, the timeline, and the resilience that this represents.”

Ambassador Davis concluded by reiterating confidence in Ukraine's business environment: “So thank you very much. It is further evidence that here is Ukraine in the midst of all the challenges that it is open for business.”
