Colleen Altstock begins term as new U.S. Consul General in Perth

Colleen Altstock has begun her role as the new Consul General at the United States Consulate General in Perth, marking the start of a three-year assignment as the most senior U.S. government official in Western Australia.

“I’m honored to lead our Consulate in Perth as we grow cooperation between the United States and Australia,” said Consul General Altstock.

“From defense to critical minerals and space, Western Australia plays a pivotal role in our U.S.-Australia alliance.”

“I’m excited to build on that momentum and deepen our connections across government, industry, and the WA community.”

“On a personal level, I enjoy the ocean and the great outdoors and I’m eager to explore the state’s beautiful natural landscapes.”

Consul General Altstock brings over 20 years of diplomatic experience. Her previous posting was at the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai, where she served as Economic and Political Section Chief. She has also worked at other overseas locations including Beijing, Shenyang, and Astana, Kazakhstan. In addition to her international roles, she has held several leadership positions in Washington, D.C.

Altstock is originally from Seattle and holds degrees in International Studies, Economics, and Asian Studies from the University of Washington.
