Pos Malaysia has temporarily stopped international postal services to the United States as of August 25. The announcement was made by the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, which noted that alternative courier services such as Redly Express, DHL, and UPS remain available for sending documents to the United States.
In response to this disruption, the embassy advised individuals needing to submit Social Security forms—such as SSA-7161 and SSA-7162—to use tracked courier services like FedEx, DHL, or UPS. Completed forms should be sent directly to the Social Security Administration at the U.S. Embassy in Manila, Philippines.
"Please note that forms cannot be submitted via email or fax," according to the statement from the embassy.
For further questions or assistance regarding Social Security matters, individuals are encouraged to contact the Federal Benefits Unit in Manila or visit the official SSA website for guidance.
The U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur also provided contact information for those seeking help: phone number +603-2168-5000 and email address KLACS@state.gov. Additional resources include the embassy’s mission website at https://my.usembassy.gov/.
U.S. citizens can also reach out to State Department Consular Affairs at +1 (888) 407-4747 or +1 (202) 501-4444 for further support.
Those residing in Malaysia are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for security updates and follow embassy updates on Facebook and X.
