Representatives from the American Citizen Services Unit of the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will hold a Passport Acceptance Event in Da Nang on Thursday, September 18, 2025. The event is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and is intended for U.S. citizens living in Central Vietnam who wish to submit passport applications without traveling to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi.
According to the announcement, "This event is dedicated to collecting passport applications only, and services will be provided by appointment. The event location will be shared with people who have a confirmed appointment." Those needing notarial services or Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA) are advised to schedule appointments at the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City or the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi.
The consulate notes that only passport applications paid via Pay.gov before the event will be accepted. Different forms—DS-82 and DS-11—have separate payment links and fees, which can be accessed at https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/1156527186/ for DS-82 and https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/1274042472/ for DS-11.
Applicants are informed that their current passports will be retained during processing, and both old and new passports will be mailed back upon completion, with courier service staff collecting delivery fees at the time of delivery. No cash payments for consular services will be accepted during this event.
To make an appointment, applicants should visit the U.S. Mission to Vietnam’s website at http://bit.ly/acsvn, select “Ho Chi Minh City” and “When is the Next Outreach Visit?” from the subject drop-down menu, and include their requested service in the message body.
The announcement also reminds attendees: "Submit completed application with barcode forms. Ensure all forms and required document copies are one-sided. The required photocopies must be printed on A4 paper, including photocopies of IDs (please do NOT cut them to size). Print out the email payment confirmation you received from pay.gov."
