The U.S. Embassy in Djibouti marked the graduation of 50 participants from the LEAD English Program at an event held at the Bibliothèque et Archives Nationales American Corner. The program, run through Djibouti’s two American Corners, offered intensive English language instruction along with workshops and activities focused on leadership, communication, and critical thinking.
Over several months, students took part in interactive sessions aimed at improving their English proficiency and preparing them for academic and professional opportunities. The initiative is part of broader efforts by the U.S. Embassy to support education and youth development in Djibouti.
U.S. Ambassador Cynthia Kierscht addressed attendees during the ceremony and emphasized the significance of learning English: “English is more than a language—it is a tool that opens doors. It gives you access to new knowledge, connects you to global networks, and equips you to contribute to Djibouti’s development in new and powerful ways. By investing in English education, we are investing in Djibouti’s future leaders, innovators, and changemakers.”
Ambassador Kierscht presented each graduate with a signed certificate recognizing their achievement.
The LEAD Program is one aspect of the Embassy’s commitment to helping young people in Djibouti gain skills needed for participation in a global economy and community improvement efforts.
