U.S. Strategic Metals (USSM), a company based in Missouri, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pakistan’s Frontier Works Organization (FWO) for cooperation on critical minerals. The signing took place at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad and was attended by Embassy Islamabad Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Zach Harkenrider, who accompanied the USSM delegation.

Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker commented on the event, stating, “This signing is yet another example of the strength of the U.S.-Pakistan bilateral relationship that will benefit both countries.” She also highlighted the significance of such agreements, saying, “The Trump administration has made the forging of such deals a key priority given the importance of critical mineral resources to American security and prosperity.  We look forward to seeing future agreements between U.S. companies and their counterparts in the critical minerals and mining sector in Pakistan.”

USSM focuses on producing and recycling critical minerals. These materials have been defined by the U.S. Department of Energy as essential for various advanced manufacturing technologies and energy production.
