Johnson & Johnson has appointed John Morikis, the retired Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Sherwin-Williams Company, to its Board of Directors. The announcement was made from the company’s headquarters in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Joaquin Duato, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson, commented on the appointment: “We are pleased to welcome John to our Company’s Board of Directors. John Morikis began his career at Sherwin-Williams in 1984 as a management trainee. Over nearly forty years, he held several leadership roles including Division President and Group President. He served as President and Chief Operating Officer from 2006 until 2016 before becoming CEO for eight years.
During his tenure as CEO, Morikis led Sherwin-Williams through significant changes that strengthened its position in the market. He focused on talent development, innovation, customer solutions, and value-added products. Under his leadership, Sherwin-Williams expanded operations into 123 countries, improved its supply chain processes, invested in technology for better customer service and efficiency, and joined the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
Morikis also serves on the boards of United Parcel Service, Inc., General Mills, Inc., Whirlpool Corporation, and chairs University Hospitals Health System, Inc.’s board. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Psychology from Saint Joseph’s College in Indiana and a master’s degree in Business from National Louis University in Illinois.
