A demonstration is planned to take place near Kuala Lumpur City Center on September 6, 2025. According to an alert from the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, groups are expected to gather at Bukit Bintang McDonald’s and march toward the Kuala Lumpur City Center (KLCC), starting at 5:00 p.m.

The embassy has advised people to avoid the area between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., citing expectations of large crowds and a significant police presence.

In its statement, the embassy outlined recommended actions for individuals in the area: “Avoid areas where demonstrators have gathered. Monitor local media for updates. Avoid crowds. Avoid demonstrations. Be aware of your surroundings.”

For assistance, the U.S. Embassy provided contact numbers for those in Malaysia (60-3-2168-5000) and from the United States (011-60-3-2168-5000), as well as an email address (KLACS@state.gov). More information can be found on their mission website at https://my.usembassy.gov/.

The State Department also encouraged travelers to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security updates and suggested following them on Facebook and X for further information.
