U.S. Ambassador to NATO meets European leaders at Bled Strategic Forum

The 2025 Bled Strategic Forum brought together leaders to discuss the importance of transatlantic cooperation in facing shared security challenges. U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker attended the event, participating in a series of discussions and meetings with Slovenian, European, and regional officials.

Ambassador Whitaker met with Slovenian Defense Minister Marjan Šarec Sajovic and State Secretary for National and International Security Vojko Volk during a dinner focused on strengthening defense ties. He also held talks with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob about regional stability and the future of relations between Europe and North America.

On the sidelines of the forum, Ambassador Whitaker spoke with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, European Commission President Kaja Kallas, and Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić. These conversations centered on deepening cooperation throughout the Euro-Atlantic region.

During a fireside chat at the forum, Ambassador Whitaker addressed attendees about the United States’ commitment to maintaining a strong and united NATO. His presence at the Bled Strategic Forum was described as an example of U.S. engagement with allies and partners to promote security, stability, and unity across the Atlantic.
