Bosch and Alibaba Group have announced an expanded strategic partnership aimed at advancing digital transformation through cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies. The collaboration is set to focus on several areas, including cloud-based enterprise operations, AI-driven business innovation, and global e-commerce expansion.

Dr. Tanja Rückert, member of the Bosch board of management and Chief Digital Officer, said, “Our partnership opens up exciting opportunities for both Bosch and Alibaba to expand our offerings in the global market. By joining forces, we combine Alibaba’s advanced cloud infrastructure, AI capabilities and e-commerce market reach with Bosch’s deep technological expertise in mobility, industrial technology and consumer goods to drive greater efficiency and innovation worldwide. AI has been an innovation booster for Bosch across all business sectors, and cooperation with strong partners like Alibaba is essential for Bosch to realizing its full potential and creating greater value.”

Joe Tsai, Chairman of Alibaba Group, added: “This partnership with Bosch demonstrates our commitment to empowering global businesses with world-class technologies and highlights Alibaba’s strengths in AI and cloud computing. Bosch’s leading expertise in advanced automotive solutions and household appliances, combined with Alibaba’s innovations in cloud, AI and e-commerce, will enable both our companies to bring compelling value propositions to customers worldwide.”

The enhanced agreement will see Alibaba Cloud supporting Bosch’s technology stack globally. The companies plan to collaborate on cloud migration strategies that cover corporate operations as well as products such as home appliances and commercial vehicles. They also intend to explore how Bosch’s intelligent driving environment can be operated on Alibaba Cloud’s AI infrastructure.

In the automotive sector, Bosch and Alibaba are evaluating Qwen-based multimodal models to improve smart cockpit experiences by enabling more intuitive interactions within vehicles. They also aim to develop next-generation automated driving solutions using Qwen’s visual language model for better scene recognition accuracy.

On the e-commerce front, Bosch plans to introduce new product categories in China utilizing consumer insights from Alibaba's platform. Additionally, Alibaba will help Bosch reach a broader audience through omni-channel digital marketing efforts in China.

Beyond China, Bosch will expand its e-commerce presence into Southeast Asia, Spain, and Latin America via Alibaba’s platforms such as Lazada, Miravia, and AliExpress.

The relationship between the two companies dates back to 2017 when Bosch began selling products on Alibaba's Tmall platform. Since then, their joint efforts have included marketing campaigns, sales initiatives, membership programs, and online-to-offline services aimed at strengthening customer engagement in China.
