Siemens and Snowflake have announced a collaboration aimed at helping industrial customers bridge operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) systems. By connecting Siemens Industrial Edge with Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud, manufacturers can use plug-and-play applications to contextualize and transfer OT data into IT environments.
FFT, a provider of manufacturing systems, is utilizing the Siemens Industrial Edge ecosystem to help manufacturers securely and efficiently move production data into the Snowflake AI Data Cloud using its DataBridge application. This solution is already in use within FFT’s own production lines, showing its ability to support efficiency and data-driven optimization. The partnership highlights FFT’s role as an integrator for automated production systems in mobility and industry sectors, as well as its position as a Siemens Xcelerator partner.
According to the companies, this joint solution is intended for production managers, data engineers, and IT leaders who face challenges such as data silos and inefficient analytics. Siemens Industrial Edge connects to various sources like PLCs and sensors, pre-processes data at the edge, and supports running transformed OT data models—including AI models—in closed-loop with automation systems. Snowflake’s platform provides insights through AI-powered analytics.
“The result is a measurable boost in operational efficiency, with higher machine performance, enhanced product quality, and reduced maintenance needs,” according to the announcement.
