U.S. Special Envoy for Global Partnerships Paolo Zampolli visited Uzbekistan’s top sports facilities and met with key figures from the country’s Olympic committee, football federation, and national teams during a recent trip to Tashkent.
Zampolli toured the Olympic City of Tashkent alongside officials from the Ministry of Sport, the National Olympic Committee, and the Uzbekistan Football Association. He observed new sports complexes intended for major international competitions and described them as an important sign of Uzbekistan’s progress in sports. He also visited the National Football Center, reviewing its stadiums, training areas, classrooms, and medical facilities. Zampolli said these investments represent “a bold commitment to the future of Uzbekistan’s athletes and coaches.” His visit included a tour of the Palace of Water Sports with members of the Uzbekistan Aquatics Federation. Zampolli noted both the modern infrastructure and skills demonstrated by national team swimmers.
During a meeting with Uzbekistan’s national football team, Zampolli delivered congratulations from President Donald J. Trump on their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the United States.
