The American University of Technology (AUT) and the U.S. Embassy have announced the opening of the American Center Tashkent, a facility aimed at public engagement, innovation, and education. The center is located on the AUT campus in Tashkent and is open to all members of the public.

The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen educational ties between Uzbekistan and the United States. The center features technology such as laptops, 3D printers, virtual reality equipment, and high-speed internet. It also offers English-language books on science, American history and culture, leadership, entrepreneurship, and free access to eLibraryUSA.

Programs at the American Center Tashkent will include English language clubs, digital skills workshops, maker sessions, and entrepreneurship training. These activities are designed to help prepare young people in Uzbekistan for future opportunities and encourage partnership with the United States.

During the opening event, U.S. Ambassador Jonathan Henick said: “This bold new initiative highlights America’s enduring commitment to strengthening the U.S.-Uzbekistan partnership through world-class educational collaborations and dynamic programs. As the global leader in science, technology, and innovation, the United States continues to shape the future—and the American Center Tashkent offers Uzbek citizens direct access to this vision.”

Douglas L. Becker, Founder and Chairman of Cintana Education; Rick Shangraw, President of Cintana Education; and Ambassador Henick spoke at a ceremony that included a ribbon-cutting event and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

According to information from American Spaces Uzbekistan, these centers provide environments where visitors can learn about U.S. culture through various resources such as lectures, books, movies, magazines, conversation clubs for practicing English, makerspace activities introducing new technologies and digital skills for modern careers as well as workshops on topics like entrepreneurship or leadership.

The new center joins three other American Spaces currently supported by the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan.
