U.S. Special Envoy for Global Partnerships Paolo Zampolli visited the Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent on September 1, 2025. The visit highlighted Uzbekistan’s efforts to preserve its cultural heritage and its historical significance as a crossroads of civilizations.
During his tour of the new complex, Zampolli acknowledged Uzbekistan’s role in promoting intercultural understanding. He said that President Donald J. Trump envisions America building partnerships based on strength and respect.
Zampolli described his first official trip to Uzbekistan as being met with notable hospitality. Speaking about Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, he stated: "President Shavkat Mirziyoyev [is] a great leader, an honest man, and a peace-loving statesman guiding Uzbekistan into a new era of revival."
The envoy’s visit was also intended to emphasize the United States’ ongoing commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Uzbekistan through cooperation not only in security and commerce but also in cultural and historical fields. According to Zampolli: "Special Envoy Zampolli’s visit reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to advancing a strategic partnership with Uzbekistan—one that is strengthened not only by security and commercial interests, but also by culture, history, and shared respect for human achievement."
