U.S. Special Envoy for Global Partnerships Ambassador Paolo Zampolli attended Uzbekistan’s 34th Independence Day celebrations in Tashkent, joining President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and senior Uzbek officials. This event marked the highest-level U.S. representation at Uzbekistan’s Independence Day to date, highlighting President Donald J. Trump’s focus on strengthening the strategic partnership between the United States and Uzbekistan.

Ambassador Zampolli stated, “Standing alongside President Mirziyoyev during the festivities was an honor of the highest order.”

The visit followed a meeting on August 28 between Ambassador Zampolli and President Mirziyoyev. During this meeting, Zampolli conveyed President Trump’s greetings and congratulations for Uzbekistan’s Independence Day. The leaders discussed expanding their strategic partnership and broader cooperation, with attention to continued progress in inter-parliamentary exchanges and plans for the first Expanded Strategic Partnership Dialogue scheduled for autumn.

Ambassador Zampolli emphasized the importance of Uzbekistan and Central Asia on a global scale.
