The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), in partnership with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Government of Botswana, has continued its efforts to strengthen Botswana’s capacity to respond to disease outbreaks. The CDC recently supported the training of a fourth group of 15 field epidemiologists through the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP).
Assistant Minister of Health Lawrence Ookeditse highlighted the role of U.S. government support in developing Botswana’s workforce to address public health threats. “CDC continues to partner with the Ministry of Health (@Ministry of Health), Botswana Public Health Institute (@BPHI) and AFENET to build critical workforce to detect and prevent disease spread,” he said.
This collaboration aims to create a skilled group of professionals capable of identifying, tracking, and containing diseases within Botswana.
