The U.S. Embassy in Koror has announced a vacancy for the position of unarmed guard, with applications open until September 19, 2025. The full-time role offers an annual salary of $12,427 and is classified as FSN-03. The embassy seeks applicants from the public and requires candidates to have completed secondary education or its local equivalent.

No prior work experience is necessary for the position, but candidates must have basic knowledge of English. Those selected will need to obtain appropriate security clearance following a background investigation and may also undergo a pre-employment medical examination.

According to the announcement, “The U.S. Mission provides equal opportunity and fair and equitable treatment in employment to all people without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, political affiliation or marital status.”

The guard will be responsible for ensuring security at the embassy by managing access control and visitor screening as part of a local guard program. The duties include preventing unauthorized access, protecting personnel and property, deterring criminal acts against employees and assets, and maintaining order.

Applications must include the DS-174 Employment Application Form (available on the embassy website or at the embassy), a resume or curriculum vitae, relevant certificates or diplomas, language scores if applicable, and residency or work permits if required. Eligible family member applicants must provide additional documentation such as sponsor’s orders or assignment notification.

Preference in hiring will be given according to a specific order: appointment eligible family members who are preference-eligible U.S. veterans; other eligible family members; Foreign Service staff on leave without pay; and Civil Service staff with reemployment rights. Documentation is required for those claiming veteran status.

Current locally employed staff serving probationary periods or with low performance ratings are not eligible to apply. Applicants are encouraged to address all qualifications in their application packages.
