Meta has announced plans to form a joint venture with Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) to develop enterprise AI solutions for Indian businesses. The partnership will focus on using Meta’s open-source Llama models to create applications for various business functions, including sales, marketing, IT, customer service, and finance.

According to Meta, the joint venture aims to offer a secure environment for organizations to customize and deploy generative AI applications. It will also provide pre-configured AI solutions designed for both general and industry-specific use cases.

The collaboration brings together Meta’s technology with RIL’s digital infrastructure. RIL’s subsidiary Jio offers extensive connectivity in India, while RIL operates advanced AI data centers. These resources are expected to help lower the cost of deploying high-performance AI models and ensure secure, low-latency operations. The joint venture will allow customers to deploy solutions over the cloud, on-premise, or through its own infrastructure.

Meta stated that ongoing improvements to its Llama models will support a smooth transition from research environments into practical business use. “At the core of this partnership is Meta’s unwavering commitment to India and its shared mission with Reliance to democratize AI technology,” said Meta in its announcement.

The companies highlighted their intention to make advanced AI tools more accessible for small- and medium-sized businesses as well as startups in India. “This collaboration goes beyond technology; it is focused on fostering innovation and growth across various industries, particularly India’s flourishing small businesses,” Meta said.

The joint venture is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close later this year.
